President Obama welcomes the USWNT to the White House to honor their victory in the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
President Obama welcomed the United States Women’s National Soccer Team to the White House today to honor the team and their victory in the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
This visit continued the tradition begun by President Obama of honoring sports teams for their efforts to give back to their communities.
Before the formalities, the USWNT had time to take photos around the White House.

Then anticipation and excitement levels increased as the USWNT were introduced on stage to await the arrival of the President.
In an inspiring moment, 13-year old Ayla introduced President Obama, reading a letter that she had wrote.

Then, President Obama took the podium to deliver his entertaining and thought provoking speech. President Obama’s words were filled with great humour and showed genuine pride towards the team’s achievements.

At the end of the speech, USA Women’s National Soccer team head coach Jill Ellis, presented President Obama with a USWNT jersey before the squad and the President posed for a selfie, in which Abby Wambach managed to cut her own head out!
