Seattle Reign FC To Host NWSL Semi-Final September 13

Seattle Reign FC will host a semi-final match on Sunday, September 13 at 6:30 p.m. (PT) on the Moda Pitch at Memorial Stadium.

Reign FC’s opponent for the match will be determined by the results of matches over the next two weeks; FC Kansas City, Portland Thorns FC, Washington Spirit and Chicago Red Stars are all potential opponents for the match. The match will be broadcast live on FOX Sports 1.

“Our first target was to reach the playoffs and the second target was having a home playoff game,” said head coach and general manager Laura Harvey. “I think that was huge for us last year and hopefully it will be again this season.”

The top four teams in the NWSL standings qualify for the playoffs, with the first and second teams each hosting semi-final matches on Sunday, Sept. 13. The first place team will host the fourth place team and the second place team will host the third place team.

Supporters who previously purchased 2015 Seattle Reign FC full season or partial season ticket packages will have an exclusive opportunity to purchase tickets online beginning Tuesday, August 25 at 9 a.m. (PT). An email with details on the pre-sale offer will be sent to qualified supporters on Tuesday morning.

Fans attending Wednesday’s match against the Boston Breakers will have an exclusive opportunity to purchase semi-final tickets at the Reign FC ticketing tent located on the concourse inside Memorial Stadium.

Tickets will then be made available online to the general public starting at 9 a.m. (PT) on Thursday, August 27 on Reign FC’s website at www.reignfc.com/semifinal.

Tickets for the semi-final match are priced at $20 in the Upper Grandstand, $27 in the Lower Grandstand and $35 in the Premium Seating section. Reign FC will open the complete lower sections of both grandstands for the match.

Should Reign FC emerge victorious from the semi-final game, the NWSL Championship Match – which will also be broadcast on Fox Sports 1 – will take place at 6:30 p.m. PT on Thursday, October 1 at Providence Park in Portland, Ore.

Reign FC currently sits at the top of the NWSL standings with 36 points. Seattle Reign FC will win the NWSL Shield for the second season in a row with a win in Wednesday’s home match against the Boston Breakers.

“We are in a position now where we can win the Shield,” Harvey said. “That is our focus going into Wednesday’s match against Boston. We want Memorial to stay a place that people fear to play.”

The Chicago Red Stars and FC Kansas City each clinched a playoff spot over the weekend. Chicago currently sits second place in the league with 29 points while FC Kansas City has 28 points. The final playoff spot will go to either the Washington Spirit or Portland Thorns FC.

Reign FC has three games remaining in its regular season schedule, including back-to-back home matches beginning with the Boston Breakers on Wednesday, August 26 at 7 p.m. (PT), and Sky Blue FC three days later on Saturday, August 29 at 7 p.m. (PT). Reign FC will then hit the road for its regular season finale against the Washington Spirit on September 5 at 4 p.m. (PT).

Fans can purchase tickets for Reign FC’s remaining regular-season matches by visiting ReignFC.com or calling (855) REIGN-FC. Tickets start at just $19.
