Sheffield FC Ladies appoint Mick Mulhern as their new manager.
Newly promoted Sheffield FC Ladies has a new first team manager for the first time since 2003 as today the club announce the appointment of Mick Mulhern.
The club announced the appointment ahead of its debut season in the English FA Women’s Super League 2 which kicks off in March 2016.
Mick Mulhern is the former manager of Sunderland Ladies who he helped secure promotion to the FA Women’s Super League but had to step down from his role as he was unable to commit to the full-time coaching role that the team’s top flight status requires, due to his current job. During his time with Sunderland, Mulhern guided the side to seven league titles and one league cup trophy.
On the club’s official website, sheffieldfc.com, Mick Mulhern says: “It’s fair to say this job really ignited my passion, and I’m delighted to be involved in the FA Women’s Super League again. Sheffield FC Ladies has progressed and evolved over the last twelve years, and it’s great that a club with such great tradition now has a women’s team that has been accepted into the WSL. I’m very excited at the prospect of working with the staff and players at Sheffield, and to be part of this historic time at the club.”
