Women’s and girls’ football continues to grow all over the world and the SLFA continues to play its part to actively encourage women and girls in Saint Lucia to participate in “the beautiful game”.
FIFA promotes the development of women’s football and pledges to support women’s football financially and to give women players, coaches, referees and officials the opportunity to become actively involved in football. FIFA is helping to popularise the game by increasing public awareness and conducting information campaigns as well as overcoming social and cultural obstacles for women with the ultimate aim of improving women’s standing in society.

The SLFA runs the St. Lucia women’s junior and senior national teams, as well as its domestic football competitions, which include both women’s professional leagues and youth championships.

    He still ignores Bev…….

Just see this stats. So far in 2013 season, Bev is the leading scorer with 8 goals. Even more critical fact is that this 8 goals were produced out of mere 17 shots. She converts 47% of opportunities, followed by Soyun’s 37% and Kawasumi’s 35%. Both Soyun and Kawasumi are indisputable stars of their national teams. Mina Tanaka follows closely behind Bev with 7 goals, but her 7 goals were produced out of 31 shots, which means 23%.

The terrible misunderstanding is that Bev scores a lot because she plays in the all-star team. The benefit of playing for good team is that you have a lot of scoring opportunities, which, in fact, is the case of Mina. Not for Bev, because Kobe has other excellent scorers who take such opportunities. This is why I mentioned RATE rather than mere number of goals.

I’m just curious. What is this scoring rate of other forwards Sermanni picks — Morgan, Wambach, Leroux and Press?

Mr. Sermanni, what is your counterargument?

That would be a good thing if – from time to time – acronym and initials were also written in full.

I know it’s longer to be written but it could be very useful ;o)
