South Africa Banyana Banyana v Zimbabwe women's football friendly 12 april 2014

South Africa ‘Banyana Banyana’ will take on Zimbabwe on Saturday 12 April 2014 in a international friendly match at Dobsonville Stadium, (Kick-off 13:30 local time).

This will be the first international match for South Africa with new coach Vera Pauw leading the team.

Banyana Banyana will not risk playing their captain Janine van Wyk in this friendly match, the defender (and Women’s Soccer United blogger) is recovering from a knee injury.

South Africa are currently preparing for the African Women’s Championship qualifiers. The ninth edition of the CAF African Women’s Championship will be hosted in Namibia in October. The top three finishers of that competition will qualify for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2015.

Banyana Banyana have recently been taking part in training camps ahead of the international friendly.
