US Soccer will fund up to 24 players, the Canadian Soccer Association up to 16, and the FMF (Mexico) a minimum of 12. That means about 50 players will be salaried by national federations. That is one third of the total if we think that each team will have 20 players under contract. That’s huge. But then, a question arises : all those players will be Internationals. Ok. What if the NT’s coach (from each of three countries) doesn’t want to call one of those players any more ? Will the National Federation immediately stop to pay the player ? Or will those Federations “force” the NT’s coach to keep on calling this player until the end of the season ?
