Starlets are only 90 minutes to a historical continental show-piece.

Kenya women football team Harambee Starlets are only 90 minutes to a historical Africa Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) finals.

Starlets forced a two-all draw against Algeria in the first leg of the second and final round of the qualifiers on Friday 8 April and will be seeking to revive their hopes of taking part in a continental tournament for the first time in the history of women football in the country.

Head coach David Ouma admits it won’t be an easy outing for his charges as they take on Algeria in the return leg set for Tuesday 12 April.

“The first leg was easy. Our opponents are experienced compared to us but we will do things possible to play in the finals. This will be a good opportunity not only for the team but the country and also will improve women football in the country,” he said.

The coach led Starlets to the third round of Olympics qualifiers where they were eliminated by South Africa’s Banyana Banyana.
