Sunderland AFC Ladies appoint Carlton Fairweather as head coach.

Newly promoted Sunderland AFC Ladies have announced they have appointed a new head coach ahead of the commencement of the 2015 FA Women’s Super League 1 season

Carlton Fairweather has taken up the position with immediate effect. Fairweather is a former Wimbledon midfielder, who joined Sunderland AFC in October 2003 to initially work with the club’s community football scheme.

Carlton progressed to the Sunderland AFC academy set-up, where he worked as a youth development phase lead coach.

During his time playing for Wimbledon, Carlton earned 138 league appearances.

Previous Sunderland AFC Ladies manager Mick Mulhern had to step down from his role at the club after helping the team secure promotion to the FAWSL 1.

Fairweather has had coaching experience in Hong Kong, the USA, and a coaching role with the Dons.
