Pia Sundhage names Sweden squad for upcoming friendlies against USA and Scotland

Sweden head coach Pia Sundhage has selected a 27-player squad to participate in the upcoming international friendly matches against USA and Scotland.

The UEFA Women’s EURO 2017 is fast approaching but before that Sweden face two preparation matches against USA and Scotland.

These matches will be Sweden’s last practice before heading to the Netherlands for this summer’s competition.

Included in the squad is Fanny Andersson of Kif Örebro who has earned her first senior team call-up. Lindahl, who is named in the squad, reportedly will not play in the friendly matches following an injured finger that she picked up during a training session with Chelsea. Kosovare Asllani’s call-up means she can potentially earn her 100th cap for her country.

Sweden will take on USA on 8 June (19:30 local) at Gamla Ullevi and Scotland on 13 June (18:00 local) in Växjö.

Like Sweden, Scotland are competing at the EURO 2017 competition this summer and face their neighbours England, Spain and Portugal in Group D. Sweden are in Group B alongside Germany, Italy and Russia. Take a look at the UEFA Women’s EURO 2017 Fixtures.

USA will play Norway in an international friendly match on 11 June before hosting the inaugural Tournament of Nations on 27 July.
