Sweden to play Japan in an International friendly on 21 July
In their final preparations before the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Sweden will host Nadeshiko Japan on 21 July at the Guldfågeln Arena.
Sweden qualified to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games women’s football tournament after beating the Netherlands, Norway and Switzerland in a ‘mini’ UEFA qualifying tournament.
They have been drawn into Group A alongside the hosts Brazil, South Africa and China PR. They kick-off their campaign against Banyana Banyana on 3 August. Check out the full Rio 2016 Olympic women’s football fixtures.
Japan failed to qualify for this summer’s competition and have since recruited Asako Takakura as their new head coach. Their first test under her leadership will be against USA this week, see Asako Takakura’s first squad selection.
Sweden have played Japan eight times and are yet to have beaten them, (3 draws, 5 losses).
