Arsenal Ladies and Bristol Academy will contest the final of the FA Women’s Cup sponsored by E.ON at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry on Saturday May 21, 2011.

Last year, Everton Ladies beat Arsenal Ladies 3-2 after extra time to lift the trophy in a thrilling final at Nottingham Forest’s City Ground in front of over 17,000 fans.

The FA hopes that this year’s final will attract the best ever attendance for a domestic women’s game in England. A record crowd of 29,092 watched England’s victory against Finland at the City of Manchester stadium in 2005 and this is still a record for a women’s match in England. The Ricoh Arena has a capacity of 32,609 and this will be the first time that The FA Women’s Cup Final has taken place at the stadium.

Arsenal defeated Barnet 5-0 at Uxbridge on Sunday to reach the final, while Bristol overcame Liverpool Ladies 3-0 on at Southport FC on April 17.

Bristol have lost to Arsenal in each of their previous 14 meetings, 13 of those coming in the Women’s Premier League, while their latest defeat came in the Women’s Super League last week as Arsenal sneaked a 1-0 win with a long-range effort from Jennifer Beattie late in the game.

Well! I guess, its a good ending for Singapore, tho still lost by a big margin. At least we managed to score 2 goals against the Philippines. I would say its another round of good exposure and experience for the team.

And 8-0 the time before. Although Bristol are a better side now, they have only scored 6 times against Arsenal compared to 52 conceded.

I was talking about this game on Sunday, it’s going to be interesting as it comes at the end of the international week. There’s a possibility of injuries and fatigue from a pretty intense May schedule.

If Arsenal play the way they should play, it has to be their 11th cup win. Bristol will have to work hard to get to the ball quickly and try to put Arsenal off their rhythm to have a chance of winning.

What do you think the outcome of the Final will be? It was 1-0 Arsenal when the two met in the WSL recently.
