TV viewer figures show Women’s World Cup 2015 on top
Women’s World Cup 2015 brings in more TV viewers in key markets than in Germany 2011 within the group matches and with the first day games attracting massive amounts of viewers in North America, Europe and Asia.
CTV, TSN and RDS: Canada V China 1.8 million viewers.
CCTV5: Canada V China 2.3 million viewers.
Fox Sports 1: USA V Australia attracted 3.3 million viewers.
Fuji TV: Japan V Switzerland reached 4.2 million viewers.
BBC2: England V France, attracted 1.5 million viewers.
These numbers are great and we all should applaude the TV companies who are showing us all the games Live, along with the Canadian Football Association for putting on an Amazing show for us all to see. Just shows how far the women’s game has moved on from the last World Cup 4 years ago. The game is getting bigger, the players and teams are getting better.
This we must thank FIFA for and I do, they are doing a great job in getting the Women’s game out to the world. you only have to look at the amazing TV stats and the goals scored so far in the tournament and at last the Media attention the Women’s game should be getting. but I do have to question the Official match Attendance Figures at some games two examples:
Spain V Costa Rica 10,175 – Olympic Stadium Montreal Capacity: 61,004
England V France 11,686 – Moncton Stadium Capacity 10,000 (can be expanded to 20,725)
Yes these figures really do matter please do not think I am having a go at FIFA, lots of people need the correct match statistics to compile an end of tournament report. Which in years to come will be a reference for many companies, sponsors, fans and sports writers. Not just here on our website but many websites worldwide will be using FIFA’s match reports. Yes we all make mistakes in our match reports you only have to look at some of mine over the last 11 years I have written.
PS: I am really enjoying every match in this year’s Women’s World Cup.
