FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup 2016 final

FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup 2016 – The Final and 3rd Place Playoff

Korea DPR and France will contest the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Final on Saturday 3 December, whilst USA and Japan will battle it out for third place.

The FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup 2016 will conclude on Saturday 3 December, will Korea DPR claim the title for the second time in their history, or will France become the fourth name to the list of tournament winners so far?

Korea DPR v France – The Final

Korea DPR have lifted this trophy once before in Russia 2006, whilst France will be looking to make history. Korea DPR have won all of their games at this competition so far, their opponents France have won three and drawn two. Both Korea DPR and France took their semi-final matches to extra time, Korea DPR conceded a late equaliser against USA but responded quickly in the first minute of extra-time and were able to hold on to the 2-1 scoreline that booked their place at the final. France and Japan played to a goalless draw in regular time of their semi-final contest but in extra-time, Mateo and Gathrat scored within minutes of each other to put France 2-0 up, Momiki hit back from the penalty spot to end the game 2-1.

USA v Japan – Match for third place

Both the USA and Japan lost their semifinal matches by 2-1 scores (both in extra time) to Korea DPR and France, respectively. The third place play-off match will mark the first meeting between USA and Japan at this competition. A tough match to call, both sides have looked impressive throughout the tournament but only one can win the bronze!
