FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup 2016 – Semi-finals
USA, France, Japan and Korea DPR have reached the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup 2016 semi-finals and are just one win away for a place in the Final.
France knocked out the holders Germany in the quarter-final stage with a 1-0 win, they now face Japan who defeated Brazil 3-1 in their last eight fixture. USA left it to the last 10 minutes against Mexico to come from 1-0 down to win 2-1 and Korea DPR took extra-time to defeat Spain 3-2.
Korea DPR v USA – 16:00 (local)
Korea DPR and USA are both previous winners of this competition but in the 2016 edition only one of these nations will be able to book their place in the final and be in with a chance of lifting the title again. Both teams had a tough quarter-final battle, Korea DPR needed extra-time to defeat Spain 3-2 whilst USA needed to come from 1-0 down to beat Mexico 2-1.
Japan v France – 19:30 (local)
France put on an impressive performance against the reigning champions Germany and were able to defeat them 1-0 thanks to a Delphine Cascarino goal. This is the second time that France has advanced to the semi-final stage, the first time was in 2014 in which they were beaten by Germany, 2-1. Japan dominated their quarter-final contest against Brazil to progress to the semi-final for the second time.
