Houston Dash Forward Chioma Ubogagu Voted NWSL Player of the Week

Houston Dash forward Chioma Ubogagu was voted the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Player of the Week by the NWSL Media Association for Week 4 of the 2016 NWSL season.

Ubogagu, 23, had a goal and one assist to help the Dash earn a 2-1 victory over FC Kansas City at Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City. It was the team’s first win on the road this season.

The London, England native scored her first goal with the Dash in the 70th minute when she settled a Rachel Daly pass inside the Kansas City penalty box and took a nice touch around the defender to score near post.

The Stanford University product played all 90 minutes of the game and finished with two shots on goal. She was also involved in setting up Houston’s first goal, scored by Denise O’Sullivan in the 69th minute.

It is the first time Ubogagu has been honored as the NWSL Player of the Week, and the fourth time a member of Houston Dash has won the award. This is the first time the Dash have had two NWSL Players of the Week in the same season.

The Houston Dash will return to action on the road Saturday, May 14 at 7 p.m. ET against the Washington Spirit at the Maureen Hendricks Field at Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, Md.
