Scotland, Netherlands, Italy and Ukraine will compete in UEFA play-offs for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2015
The European play-offs for the final UEFA slot at the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2015 begins today with Scotland, the Netherlands, Italy and Ukraine taking part in a two-round contest.
Scotland, the Netherlands, Italy and Ukraine will start their battle to earn the eighth and final European slot in Canada.

Scotland v Netherlands
Scotland have beaten the Netherlands in the last two times they have met at the Cyprus Cup, however, Scotland have never qualified for a major tournament, despite coming dramatically close in the UEFA Women’s EURO 2009 and 2013 play-offs.
The Netherlands have qualified for the UEFA European Championship on previous occasions but have never qualified for a FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Italy v Ukraine
First leg result: Italy 2 – 1 Ukraine, (Valentina Cernoia 1′, Daryna Apanaschenko 34′, Melania Gabbiadini 45+1)
Second leg result: Full-time: Ukraine 2-2 Italy (Agg: 3-4) Dyatel 26′, 47′, Gabbiadini 55′, Panico 79′
Italy have successfully qualified for the women’s World Cup in 1991 and 1999. They narrowly missed out on a place in the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2011 after losing to USA in the UEFA-CONCACAF play-off.
Ukraine have never qualified for the FIFA Women’s World Cup, the closest they came to achieving this was reaching the play-offs four years ago.
