Ugo Njoku of Nigeria receives three-match ban for elbow incident

It is reported that Nigeria’s Ugo Njoku has been given a three-match ban following the elbow incident against Australia’s Sam Kerr.

The incident happened during Friday’s FIFA Women’s World Cup 2015 Group D match between Australia and Nigeria.

The offence was missed by the officials during the match which involved Nigerian substitute Njoku but Fifa’s disciplinary committee later examined the video footage and handed the 20-year-old the ban.

Nigeria’s final group match is against USA on Tuesday 16 June, Australia face Sweden. Here is a reminder of all the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2015 results and upcoming fixtures.
