Game day in Florida! The Olympic Gold medallists USA, start their 2013 campaign with a international friendly against Scotland on Saturday 9th February 2013 at 5pm ET.

The venue for the clash is the EverBank Field; Jacksonville, Fla. Florida is where the USWNT’s 2012 finale match against China PR was played, which saw USA end the year with a 4-1 victory.

Scotland have played USA only once before, the Americans dominated the match to win 8-2 in Ohio back in 2002. The Scottish squad has developed by huge amounts since they last met and we are expecting a closer contest today.

USA have been preparing for this fixture with a training camp in which Tom Sermanni called up 29 players to participate. Sermanni named 18 players from this selection to take part in the two friendlies against his native country Scotland.

Scotland Women’s National team’s manager Anna Signeul has named her 18-player squad for the doubleheader against USA.

USWNT forward (and FIFA Women’s World Player of the Year 2012), Abby Wambach is just six goals behind the legendary Mia Hamm’s world goal scoring record of 158 career international goals from 1987-2004
