USA play hosts to Republic of Ireland in the first of two international friendly matches on Wednesday as part of their ‘Fan Tribute Tour’, celebrating their Olympic gold medal win.

The game will take place at the JELD-WEN Field, Portland on Wednesday November 28th at 7pm (local time).

Sue Ronan has announced the squad who will travel to America on the 25th November to prepare for the upcoming matches against the FIFA World Number 1 Ranked team.

The USWNT remain unbeaten in the ‘Fan Tribute Tour’ so far, although they did have to settle for a draw against Germany on the both occasions they met. Here is a list of the remaining Fan Tribute Tour fixtures.

It’s been an exciting week in the US for women’s soccer, with the announcement of a new professional soccer league to be launched in Spring 2013.

There are probably many temptations! I would think the 2016 Olympics might be too. Personally I’d like to see her get hired to work for the USWNT.

That’s really interesting point about Wambach, and it would be a good tactic. I am sure she will be tempted to stay for World Cup 2015 though?

The Saturday game starts a half hour later, at 7:30 local time. I watched the game and agree 100% with Deborah. I wonder if Wambach is taking a back seat on purpose. There has been a lot of talk about her retiring. Maybe that’s why Jill had Alex and Sydney up front so much last night? Just wondering.
