According to a New Zealand paper the Football Ferns are planning to take on the World’s top ranked women’s soccer team in September as part of their preparations for the London 2012 Olympics.

The article reports, the two countries are currently in negotiations and confirmation is hoped to be released soon. They may possibly have the two fixtures in September.

New Zealand approached US last year about arranging a pre women’s World Cup warm up match but the USWNT schedule was already full.

USWNT are also in preparations for the London 2012 Olympics and may wish to find opposition that will cause them problems. In previous meetings with the Football Ferns the closest scoreline was when US won 4-0 at the Beijing Olympics. However, the New Zealand team have improved a lot since their last meeting and they have gained massive experience from the recent World Cup.

The fixtures have been pencilled in for Kansas on 17th September, with a follow up match three days later in Portland on 20th September. If these fixtures are confirmed, the Football Ferns hope to take the team to Vancouver afterwards to play an International friendly against Canada.

@Gina, you’re welcome. You must be happy with Le Sommer and White starting on both sides ;o)

I regret not seeing right from the beginning Julie Soyer (for Francoà and Sabrina Delannoy in CF instead of Meilleroux. I hope that they will enter the game, as well as Catala, Hamraoui and Plaza.
