25-year-old China women’s national team goalkeeper Wang Fei reportedly announces retirement.
There are some conflicting reports that Wang Fei has left the China women’s national team.
Some reports suggest that Wang Fei has left the China WNT because of health reasons and therefore is ruled out of the AFC Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament which starts at the end of this month.
The other report is that Fei has officially announced her retirement, with speculation it is because of differences with her national team coach, Bruno Bini.
Wang Fei played a key role in China Women’s National Team’s FIFA Women’s World Cup 2015 campaign in which they advanced to the quarter-finals only to be defeated 1-0 by the eventual winners USA.
At club level, Wang Fei played in the German Allianz Frauen-Bundesliga for Turbine Potsdam before signing for French club Olympique Lyonnais.
