Chinese goalkeeper Wang Fei signs for French club Olympique Lyonnais
Wang Fei is reported to have joined the top French club Lyon from German side 1.FFC Turbine Potsdam who she signed for in December 2014. The signing made Wang Fei the first ever Chinese footballer to play in the German Frauen-Bundesliga.
1.FFC Turbine Potsdam confirmed that the move was official on their Facebook page on Monday.
The 25 year old goalkeeper had signed for the German club until June 2016. When she made her debut for the club, Turbine Potsdam coach Bernd Schröder said at the time “We’ve finally found our new Nadine Angerer,”.
Wang Fei was one of China’s impressive performers at the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2015 in which her country progressed to the quarter-final stage only to be knocked out by the eventual World Champions USA.
Lyon’s regular first team goalkeeper Sarah Bouhaddi is currently recovering from injury.
