Providing coverage of women’s football from all around the world!
By no means, I mean to belittle the teams high or rising in ranks. However, I have the same problem with nomination and election of Ballon d’Or. What is the criteria used here, if not subjective and arbitrary pick-up? For example, why Nigeria is not even in the top 30? They were in the 2011 WWC. They lost to Germany and France, but both were close lost by 0-1. Are they really lower than the teams we see in the ranks 15-30? Yes, they were absent in Olympic this year, but so were many higher-ranked teams, including Germany. Again, I am NOT saying the ranks are wrong. I am just asking what the criteria – or the pointing system – is.
